PREVENTION CURRICULUM

"Teens who become aware of the dangers of Sextortion are far less likely to fall prey and are better able to help their peers. Our curriculum facilitates discussion in a small group, enabling teens to think critically and develop strategies to protect themselves and others.”
Margaret Wolski, Director of New Name Awareness

For the past 10 years, New Name has connected with hundreds of women in the Chicagoland area who are sexually exploited or sex trafficked. The two most common threads among these women are sexual abuse and exploitation that started when they were minors.
Did you know ...
  • Sextortion is by far the fastest growing threat to children in our nation, warned the US Department of Justice in 2017. What exactly is sextortion?  “A serious crime that occurs when someone threatens to distribute your private and sensitive material if you don’t provide them images of a sexual nature, sexual favors, or money.” (www.fbi.gov)
  • Sextortion can be linked to depression, suicide, drug and alcohol addiction, and kidnapping for the purposes of sex trafficking.
As a not-for-profit, New Name is offering our Sextortion curriculum free of charge. We aim to equip you to reach as many teens as possible on the topic of Sextortion. We would never want cost to be a hindrance to educating our youth on this important subject.  Our curriculum includes:
  • Complete Facilitator’s Guide for a 45 minute Presentation
  • Accompanying Animated Video
  • Optional Power Point (PC) or Keynote (MAC) Presentation
